Grant Cousar
Director of Business Operations/Owner
During his 25 year career grant has worked in all aspects of food service including being a locally renowned chef, developing financial programs as well as restaurant and catering consultation and management. Grant trained as a chef primarily in french classical cuisine at dubrulle culinary school and has worked at many of bc’s finest restaurants. Grant’s culinary direction has always been towards locally harvested foods. Starting whistler cooks catering in 1999 with wife Hilarie was part of an evolution to not only being self employed but also to create a company that could take a vested approach to sustainable food and business. Grant has been involved in food community action with whistler 2020, slow food sea to sky, and the whistler farmers market. Grant is the driving force at Whistler Cooks catering taking a once small catering company to being the largest catering operation in the sea to sky region.

Hilarie Cousar
Director of Catering Operations/Owner
With over 25 years in the food and beverage industry Hilarie is dedicated to leading and developing excellence in service standards. Hilarie has managed and worked front of house in fine dining restaurants including the acclaimed stelle and oceans restaurants in toronto and Quattro and Umberto’s here in whistler bc. In 1999 with husband chef Grant, Whistler Cooks catering was founded. From intimate in house dining to large corporate catering, hilarie’s sensitivity and responsiveness to staff and guests alike is the key to her positive and enthusiastic management skills. Most recently hilarie took on the incredible role as co-project director for the very successful food and beverage services provided for vanoc for the 2010 winter Olympic and Paralympic games at four venues including the Whistler olympic and paralympic park, the whistler sliding centre, the Whistler medals plaza and as well the back of house Whistler transport facilities.

Catering Operations Manager
Mal Attorp has served in several different types of food and beverage operations around British Columbia. These operations range from casual restaurants, nightclubs, bars, and cafes to fine dining establishments and resorts. This love of the food and beverage industry led her to attaining her diploma for resort and hotel management from selkirk college in nelson, bc. To combine her passion for nature and customer service mal decided to move to whistler. She has been serving with Whistler Cooks Catering for 2 years now and looks forward to catering your event!

Rob McClean
Sous Chef/ Sushi Chef
Studied Japanese Cuisine at the Vancouver Vocational Institute. His Japanese culinary career started at the very popular Sushi Village restaurant in Whistler. After nine years there Rob ventured out and opened his own Sushi restaurant, Sushi Ya. In search of new tastes and varying food cultures, Rob joined the Whistler Cooks team in 2009.

Ellie Scott
Culinary Operations Manager
Chef Ellie Scott has been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years starting from an apprenticeship in toronto to head chef positions in vancouver, whistler and a 5 year stint in london uk. Then many years travelling the globe in search of new tastes and varying food cultures, exploring the rich diversity the distinct regions offer working in seasonal resorts, as camp cook or private chef in the international yachting industry. Throughout this time she realized that food is the glue that keeps people together; whether with family celebrations or intensive working environments, the common denominator of happy times is the soul nourishment of good food for health and pleasure, for spirit and body the communal breaking of bread is still one of mankind’s most basic rituals and nothing less than the basis of civilisation. Most recently, Ellie has been working on a variety of different hospitality related projects, from corporate charters and entertaining VIP clients, studying diets and nutrition to working with bars and restaurants controlling liquor losses and increasing profitability. Most recently she was intensely involved in the formidable task of setting up food and beverage service at olympic venues during the 2010 winter olympics in whistler
